Dectalk sings

Ok, I know this is old, tired, and half dead, but I just thought i'd open a board for those who like playing with Dectalk.

Has anyone created any singing dectalk files?

Also, does anyone know how to get the Dectalk archive of files? I can't seem to find it anywhere!

I can't imagine why anyone would actually want this now? It's like some blind people are obsessed with this! and the ironic part is, with the possible exception of people who use Window-eyes, most of the people I know prefer eloquence as a synthesizer. Just google dectalk sings, or singing dectalk and it should show up.

Eloquence is crappy. I despise Eloquence because it puts me to sleep.

oh yes, i agree! I am most definitely more of a dectalk user, and probably always will be. but for most people, Dectalk has become that singing synthesizer and there's more to it than that. To me, Eloquence sucks! but to each his own. some people love it. so there you go.

I think they still have them at pdaudio.net, if not look for my info in my profile and I'll send you what I have. It does get old after a while but there are still people obsessed.

I've always wondered how on earth people can make it sing. That's so cool. lol

toonhead, that's not very nice. that's the very reason why I had an argument with someone else (who we both know) for saying the same sorts of things. so what if some people are obsessed? it's amusing; I love it! it's very clever, and you got to have talent to do some of the stuff that's produced.

I agree. I wouldn't call it an obsession either. I can sleep and eat without thinking about it. I do have a massive soft spot for Dectalk though, as it was the first synth I ever used. If you call an appreciation for someone else's tallent and skill an obsession though, then yes, I guess I am.

I've already looked at the stuff of pdaudio.net. It's not that i'm looking for, as Patrick, whilst talented, isn't the only one who makes synths sing. There's an archive that used to be on bellsouth.net and on Andre Lewis' homepage, but it's not hosted there any more. There were hundreds of dectalk files, and that's what i'm trying to find.

it's actually pretty complicated; well I guess not so much if you're musical and if you've got a high concentration level, but it involves editting text in a demo DT file and creating the syllables by using the phonetic alphabet followed by a number representing the length of the note, followed by a comma then a number which corresponds with a particulaa note and the octive. - that's basically how it works, but it can be pretty tedious, at least for me, Lol
